Mid Term

Active Learning - Reflection

During PE this year, how have you shown you are prepared and willing to participate
in a variety of activities?  On what days have you participated to your best effort and
why?  What days have been a struggle for you and why?

How do you contribute to the overall success of the class?  What kind of attitude do
you bring and why?  How do you interact with other students in our class?

Describe your participation during fitness days - have you been able to push yourself
physically?  What types of fitness activities do you enjoy the most?  What fitness
goals do you have for the rest of the year?

What does "leadership" mean to you?  Who are the best leaders in our class - why?

What improvements would you like to make in PE by the end of the year?  What are
you the most proud of so far?

Finally, what letter grade A, B, C+, C, C- (gulp) best represents the effort you just described? In Grade 10-12 we need an actual percentage as well. :( Like 71%… because…"

During PE this year i have shown that i am prepared for class by coming with full strip everyday, by showing up to class on time everyday, and by actually doing fitness on fitness days. The days i have participated to my best effort on fitness days would be fitness testing or the days when my friends challenge me to who could do this faster or who could do this for the longest time. The days that have been a struggle for me are the days after a workout day in the gym, or the the days after a late game the day before or some days when i'm just out of it. Well, me contributing to the overall success of the class, does happen but rarely. I'm the type of guy that cares about my personal fitness and i usually wouldn't go the extra mile to ensure someone who is lazy gets their fitness in, but if someone actually wants to do fitness and there is something stopping them, by all means i will help them. I have done this a couple of times with my friends on fitness days.I don't know how to prove this but you can go ask on gurpal's page and ask him about this if you want. I push myself a lot physically, just not a lot in PE. I push myself in the workouts i do in Langley every Monday and Thursday with my trainer. We do some crazy workouts there and i have to push myself a lot there. I'll post a video up next time i m there. The reason i don't push myself a lot at school is i believe we  don't do enough of an intense workout on fitness days. But don't get me wrong, every time we do beep test or pyramid, or community run i'm ready to give it my all. The type of fitness activities i enjoy the most are the ones you do with  a buddy and really go hard because of the intensity of the workout. And after the workout your whole body is extremely sore you just want to go home and sleep. The fitness goals i have for the rest of the year are i want to get at least over 13.5 on the beep test and i want to get my legs really strong so i can skate faster on the ice. Leadership to me is organizing activities on choice days, stepping up and volunteering to put the equipment away, and that person who just gets everyone included into the activity. To me, the leaders in our class are Kiran and Armaan. I think they are because they, majority of the time are the ones organizing the teams and are the most vocal in our class. The improvements that i would like to make by the end of the year are, communicating more with my peers during activities and improving my fitness scores. Right now i am okay with my fitness scores. I think i deserve a 90% in PE because of the effort i put in on fitness days and more importantly how i maintain by fitness outside of school(i will put up some videos soon). And most important of all my desire to good in fitness and my expectations with my personal fitness.

  1. Good Evan. Obviously you missed some classes but your blog still has a good start. Videos and reflections on your learning at your trainer will be what improves your blog from average to good. I was a little confused about your fitness at school section. You seem to say it's about your attitude but then also say we don't work out very hard? Can you elaborate? I always get a good workout in from our variety of activities because I choose to push… even in yoga! I do notice some choices cause more pain or improvement than others though. One thing I want to see from you is learning to push out of your comfort zone. You don't need to be Arman (talkative) but doing new activities and speaking to new people when you maybe don't want to is where you learn the most. If you feel like you have it all figured out you're not growing as an athlete or person so keep looking for that uncomfortable zone, physical and mentally.
